New Transit Center to Enhance Public Transportation in Huntsville

Huntsville's new downtown Transit Center, a $14.6 million project funded largely by a Federal Transit Authority grant, opens next week. The center features 14 bus bays, a spacious lobby with a ticket counter, and innovative rainwater management for landscaping. Red Lobster has reopened in Huntsville, with the restaurant's parking lot packed all weekend. The location remains the same at 1818 University Dr NW, just east of Memorial Parkway. This reopening comes after a challenging period for the seafood chain, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2024. The closures were part of a strategy to abandon leases at underperforming restaurants, but the Huntsville location has made a comeback, though no specific reasons were given for its reopening.

Grissom’s All-American Diver

Grissom High School’s Casey Sapp was honored as an AAU All-American diver this summer. Sapp qualified for the USA Nationals and competed in various events, including the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform dives. At the AAU Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in July, Sapp placed 9th in the 1-meter event, 4th in the 3-meter, and 6th on the platform. He continued his success in August at the USA Nationals in Morgantown, West Virginia, finishing 26th in the 3-meter and 19th on the platform.
