Madison Plans New $49M School

Madison and Madison City Schools are moving forward with a $49 million elementary school on Hardiman Road to accommodate the rapidly growing student population. Currently serving 13,000 students with an annual increase of 300, the district expects to reach 15,000 students by 2030. The new school, opening in August 2026, aims to manage this growth and enhance facilities, including new full-time music, art, and STEM programs. The project will also address traffic congestion, situated near Limestone County, where 27% of students reside. A survey will likely be conducted to name the new school.
