Huntsville History 📖

Saturday, January 31, 1891 - The Huntsville Gazette

Messrs. Chris McDonald and W. E. Lynskey, two of our worthy and progressive business men and citizens, possess some lands over in Marshall County, that are destined to realize them a snug sum in the near future. These lands, about fourteen hundred acres, lie on the Gunter mountain, and in a few miles of Guntersville, and will be accessible to railroad and river, and on them grows the finest of heavy timber, oak, hickory, ash and walnut. But the main product of these valuable lands are brown hematite and manganese ores, which is of inexhaustible quantities. On a recent visit of Mr. McDonald's to their property, he gathered and brought back with him some very fine specimens of these ores, and now has them at his business house, where they can be seen by all desiring to. these gentlemen, in our opinion and judgement have an enviable "bonanza"in the ownership of these lands, and we trust that at no distant day they will realize their full anticipations.
