Huntsville History 📔
The Huntsville Times - December 1, 1947
About 5,000 people streamed into the Keller Car exhibit in the lobby of the Russel Erskine Hotel yesterday and crowds this afternoon and tonight are expected to bring the total seeing the three-day show to more than 10,000 persons. Company officials report that the reception of the new cars has been good and that local residents are very interested. The Keller convertible and the station wagon are on display in the lobby, and between 25 and 50 people remained around the display all day, the number sometimes rising much higher. Local residents are especially interested in the price of the car , which will feature the new "cradled in rubber" ride. Company officials at the exhibit answered numerous questions about employment opportunities, and technical performance of the automobiles. The stripped rear-engine chassis is also on display. The cars were drained of their gasoline, and then pushed into the lobby, it was reported, in answer to the question of many residents who have been unable to understand how the cars were taken inside. The convertible weighs -1,800 pounds, and the station wagon-2,100.
