The Huntsville Times - January 19, 1950
Battle Tonight For District Title-William Ethridge and Clyde Harris square off for their fight tonight, to decide the North Alabama Welterweight Championship. The bout is one of five title bouts on tap in the district Golden Gloves finals, beginning at 8 o'clock at the Central YMCA. Three novice bouts will bring tonight's card to eight fights in all. Harris gained the finals last night, with a technical knockout over Buddy Sims of Decatur, in the second round.

Dr. Norma Jean Van Zee, 97, of Huntsville, passed January. 13, 2026. A beloved music educator, horse enthusiast, and world traveler, she inspired thousands of students and enriched her community. She is survived by her daughter Deborah and grandson Jameel. Celebration: January 24 at Aldersgate UMC.
