Rocket City Fair Concert Series 🎢🍔🎶

The Rocket City Fair is back in Huntsville from June 20-30, 2024, and it's bigger and better than ever! Highlighting the Saturday event is R&B Night, where you can groove to the smooth tunes of R&B Vibes Live. Enjoy a night of rhythm, rides, and irresistible fair food!

Watermelon Carving Contest 🍉

Make your plans now for a chance to win over $500 in prizes and gift cards! Bring your completed, carved watermelon to The Camp by 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 30 (no on-site carving). Submit with your name, age, email, and phone number. Photos of entries will be posted on MidCity's Facebook Page by 2:30 pm, and voting will take place online via reactions to each picture. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, July 2nd, at 5:00 pm.

Huntsville to host USA Table Tennis National Championship

Huntsville will be the epicenter of table tennis as it hosts the World Table Tennis Youth Contender and the USA Table Tennis Nationals. The USA Table Tennis Nationals, scheduled for July 3-7, will take place in South Hall at the Von Braun Center with over 80 courts. The event, previously hosted in Fort Worth, will bring over 800 participants. Jennifer Moore, President & CEO of the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, highlighted the significant economic impact, with the events generating over $2 million and 3,000 room nights.

Alabama A&M Offers $65.5 Million for Birmingham-Southern College

Days before Miles College signed a letter of intent to negotiate the purchase of Birmingham-Southern College, Alabama A&M made a $65.5 million second offer. The offer included $35.5 million in cash and $30 million for maintenance, an increase from their previous $52 million offer. Miles signed the letter of intent on June 19, creating an exclusive negotiation period.

Drone Company Moving Headquarters to Huntsville

Skyfire Consulting is relocating its headquarters from Atlanta to Rocket City. Known for its drone work in public safety, Skyfire will move to over 2000 acres of an FAA-designated test site. In partnership with the City and Huntsville International Airport (HSV), Skyfire will support public safety and emergency response training, offering agencies a chance to utilize its drones. CEO Matt Sloane highlighted that the facility will be free for law enforcement and rescue agencies, funded by technology companies. The new headquarters will be renovated into a state-of-the-art training facility within two years.

Huntsville City FC fell to 2-9-3 against Cincinnati this past Sunday, putting them back in last place of 15 in the Eastern Conference standings. However, the Boys in Blue will face Carolina Core FC on Friday, June 28, at Wicks Family Field, Joe Davis Stadium, with a chance to jump 14th place Carolina in the standings.

The Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium will host the inaugural Kids Summer Splash Jump Fest from July 10 to 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT.
